Oryx Energies establishes a presence in Gambia

20 November 2017

Oryx Energies announces the acquisition of a 75.01% stake in Atlas Energy Limited, Gambia (Atlas), thereby entering the Gambian oil product distribution market for the first time.

With over 220 employees, Atlas manages a network of 28 service stations and a portfolio of business customers to which it supplies fuels, lubricants and LPG (liquefied petroleum gas). The service stations will keep the Atlas name, while the Oryx Energies brand will become known in Gambia via its lubricants and LPG products.

Oryx Energies’ oil trading division has been supplying Atlas since 2014 and will continue to do so.

Atlas’ management will remain unchanged under the leadership of Mr Hally Mass Jobe, the son of the company’s founder Mr Edrissa Mass Jobe who is also a shareholder.

This acquisition in Gambia brings to 19 the number of Oryx Energies subsidiaries in sub-Saharan Africa, in addition to six commercial offices.
